Soaring Penguin: We can make a penguin fly - we can do anything!

Comics Forum

The development of the the Comics Forum was as part of a larger redesign of the entire magazine.

Comics Forum was the publication of the Comics Creators Guild.  After years in the doldrums, it had been revived in 2000 for the Bristol Comics Expo, where it met with great enthusiasm.

Flushed with success, one further issue of Comics Forum was published  in its then-current format of A4 saddle-stitched.

At that time, the Comics Forum was the words "comics" and "forum" typeset across the top of the cover.

The brief was to create a more memorable logo that emphasised the "Forum" part of the magazine, that is active solicitation of a healthy debate about the comics industry in general, and notable comics in particular.

The new logo lasted a further 5 issues before Comics Forum was discontinued.  However, the logo was revived and used for the CCG Annual first published in 2006.
